Early designs for this project were rejected by the City of Fremont, who wanted a "unique" design to complement this site - which serves as a gateway to a new office campus then being developed by Catellus. The canopy on the street side was specifically rejected by the city, but ARC Inc. Architects responded to this challenge by creating a more sculptured form and elevated design to satisfy the City's needs. While these requirements by the city increased the construction costs for this unique project, it has paid off for this highly successful development.
