St. Catherine’s Wood, Craftsman — Benicia, CA
These Craftsman-style homes were specifically designed to match one of the architecture styles that was prominent in Benicia during the 1800’s. The amenities of these contemporary dwellings include 10-foot ceilings, 4 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, and a gourmet kitchen with hardwood floors throughout. Since they were constructed on sloped grades, one of the design challenges was to limit the building height to the 30 foot limit along all sides. This was accomplished by stepping down the residence and by adding a 300 s.f. shop above the garage which made this area 3 stories. Being located on a hill, these homes were afforded impressive views of the Carquinez Straits and surrounding Benicia area.
